Got going again and drove for about 5 miles at 60 mph. Arrived home and the engine management light came on as I parked. My Scangenie fault reader shows A 9.There is no A 9 listed on the technical information which came with the fault code reader. It won't clear from the memory. The engine starts well but won't rev. evenly over about 1500 rpm. when it runs very roughly and varies between 2000 and 2500 rpm on a steady throttle but won't rev. higher. Sounds as if it is missing badly. The temperature guage remained normal for the whole duration and the engine gave me no cause for concern at the time. Incidently ,the triangular ABS warning light is now on permanently which may be completely co-incidental. It is a year 2000 car and has done 103,000 miles.I have used it for 5 years with no engine problems. Any ideas anyone?

I have a similar problem on the rear wash wiper, I am assuming that it will be a similar setup and a similar fix should work.
